Tumpek Landep Prayer in Orthopedic and Traumatology Department of Prof Ngoerah Hospital

`

Bali is an island that is very rich in culture and ceremonies, and one of the major holidays celebrated by all Balinese people is Tumpek Landep. Etymologically, the word "tumpek" comes from the word "tumpek" which comes from the word "tampa" which means "down". Then, the word "tampa" gets the insertion of "-um," and undergoes a consonant change, thus forming the word "tumampak" which means "to stand". Then, it changed into an adverb of state, so that it became the word "tumampek" which means "close." The word "tumampek" then undergoes compounding the letter "m," so it becomes the word "tumpek." This holy day for Hindus is interpreted as a time to commemorate the descent of the manifestation power of Sang Hyang Widhi to the world. In his commemoration, Tumpek Landep is devoted to asking God for salvation in his form as Sanghyang Pasupati who animates all metal tools, including various weapons and heirlooms. It is hoped that these metal tools will always provide benefits for human life and mankind will always be given safety when using them.

Tumpek Landep is commemorated at Saniscara Kliwon Wuku Landep every six months. The ceremony contains the essence and meaning that is closely related to human life in the world, especially regarding intelligence. Meanwhile, humans themselves are considered as religious creatures who are always associated with supernatural powers. It was further explained that the word "landep" itself contained the meaning of "sharpness." Therefore, Tumpek Landep is an expression of gratitude for Hindus, especially in Bali, for Sang Hyang Widi Wasa who came down to the world and gave sharpness of thought to humans.

On Saturday, April 9, 2022, the entire extended family of SMF Orthopedics and Traumatology Sanglah Hospital held a joint prayer at the SMF office in commemoration of the Tumpek Landep feast and the Piodalan ceremony of SMF Orthopedics and Traumatology Sanglah Hospital. The purpose of praying is that we should always remember to sharpen the mind (manah), buddhi and citta. With a sharp manah, buddhi and citta, it is hoped that we can fight ignorance, darkness and misery and be able to suppress the buthakala behavior that is within us.
