Orthopaedic and Traumatology Band
In the daily life of Orthopaedic and Traumatology Residen of Faculty of Medicine Udayana University Education Programs, they cannot be separated from their daily activities such as clinic / outpatient health service, surgery, scientific activities, etc. Work, study, and activities in the medical world did not seem to be a barrier for Orthopaedic and Traumatology residents to express their creativity in music. Playing music could provide benefits for the body as well as the mind. Regardless of age and level of proficiency, playing a musical instrument was a form of cognitive exercise. Many researches showed that playing music can reduce stress by lowering cortisol levels.
Self-development was not only limited to academics. Extracurricular activities such as band / playing music was one of the activities for Orthopaedic and Traumatology residents to express their interests and talents in music. This activity was open to all Orthopaedic and Traumatology residents to strengthen relationships between fellow residents. The implementation itself was routinely carried out, included a preparation to perform in various internal activities and national events. The songs performed was from various types of music.
Before COVID-19 pandemic, Orthopaedic and Traumatology Band performed routinely at the Anniversary Ceremony of Sanglah Hospital and BKFK Udayana. This showed the enthusiasm of Orthopaedic and Traumatology residents to channel their interests and talents in music.
Currently, due to the pandemic, in the 68th Sanglah Hospital Anniversary, Orthopaedic and Traumatology Band participate on the acoustic contest by making and acoustic show video. Orthopaedic and Traumatology’s band performed the song “Just The Two of Us” by Grover Washington Jr which was arranged based on creativity of the band members itself.
