Guest Lecture Activities by Professor Ian Andrew Harris
The Faculty of Medicine at Udayana University's Orthopedic and Traumatology Specialty Study Program consistently increases efforts to realize the study program's vision, specifically by organizing an Orthopedic and Traumatology Specialist Study Program Education to enhance the quality of graduates with superior abilities in the field of musculoskeletal trauma so that they can compete at regional, national, and international levels. Direct communication and knowledge exchange with foreign orthopaedic and traumatology professionals is one of the steps used to improve competitiveness on the global stage. One of the top universities for orthopedic education in the world, the University of New South Wales in Australia, collaborates with the Udayana Orthopedic and Traumatology Specialist Study Program and frequently sends professors to Sanglah Hospital to update the entire Bali Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology family on the most recent developments in orthopedics and traumatology.
Recently, the entire Balinese Orthopedic and Traumatology family attended Professor Ian Andrew Harris' guest lecture on "Lisfranc Injury" on July 1, 2022. Professor Harris is a professor of orthopedics and traumatology at UNSW Australia. Professor Ian Andrew, an orthopedic surgery professor in both Australia and England, gave a lecture to start off the activity. After that, there was a question-and-answer period and more discussion on the most recent advancements in orthopedics and traumatology between the two countries.
Activities related to professor visits are done almost every six months. The goal of implementing this activity is to give the Balinese Orthopedic and Traumatology extended family a way to share knowledge, broaden their horizons, and develop relationships with international orthopedic surgeons. As a result, the graduates produced will be of a high caliber, possessing not only local and national insights but also the capability spirit to compete internationally.
