Accreditation of the Orthopedic and Traumatology Specialist Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University in 2022

A study program is said to be able to produce graduates with excellent and reliable categories and must go through a long process. One of the things that must be passed is to get the predicate of excellent accreditation. Association of Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (IAAHEH) is an independent accrediting agency that started operating in March 2015. The establishment of IAAHEH was facilitated by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture through the Health Professional Education Quality Project (HPEQ Project) from 2009 to 2014. The establishment of IAAHEH was a milestone for Indonesia because it was the first time an independent accreditation agency was established and authorized to conduct accreditation for study programs in various health professions. The purpose of accreditation is to equalize educational standards in each education center in Indonesia, so that they can use the same educational standards with the final result producing graduates with excellent quality.

The Orthopedic and Traumatology Specialist Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University received a visit from IAAHEH with the aim of accreditation which brought 2 assessors from the center, namely, Dr. dr. M. Rizal Chaidir, Sp.OT (K)., M.Kes (MMR)., MH.Kes and dr. Istan Irmansyah Irsan, Sp.OT (K) for 2 days, on August 1 – August 2, 2022. The series of events are reviewing the supporting data for the Study Program and on the second day visiting the Network Hospital, namely Mangusada Regional General Hospital. The first day began with an opening ceremony featuring a Kecak dance performed by the residents and then continued with a presentation by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, namely Dr. dr. I Komang Januartha Putra Pinatih, M.Kes and then continued with a presentation by the Head of the Orthopedic and Traumatology Specialist Study Program, Dr. dr. I Gusti Ngurah Wien Aryana, Sp.OT (K). On the next day, they visited the network hospital at Mangusada Hospital with the aim of reviewing the files and facilities that support the education process by residents there during the networking period and then continuing with interviews with students.

The purpose of this activity is to assess the readiness of a study program to provide educational services, learning, standardization and facilities that can support a learning process by students, especially orthopedic and traumatology residents so that they can carry out services, research and education to the fullest. With the implementation of accreditation by IAAHEH, the Orthopedic and Traumatology Specialist Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University is expected to get an excellent score.
